Dave works on oil rigs, is out of control of his diet when he is there and has a limited gym. When he’s back he’s got to look after 2 kids and a dog, so its not always easy sticking to a calorie deficit.
I’ve trained Dave for a while now, he was recommended to by a former client and his sister. At 110kg he was shy, quiet and used to get called ‘fat Dave’ at work, so our first points of call were those.
He struggled to work to full capacity, was a casual drinker on the weekends and had no real education around food. We implemented solid habits from the get go, moving more, utilising the gym a lot more with compound movements (as he was already incredibly strong), and making sure
he was eating necessary protein.
With some consistency and some flexibility for his job, social life and Christmas we managed to lose 26kg (~4 stone) in the first year of working
together. Since then, we’ve periodised our fat loss, with periods of intentional muscle gain to achieve a better look over the years.
“The process for the photoshoot was amazing, seeing how far I can push my body was great. If you’re thinking about starting something, just do it”
I still train Dave now, he’s a delight to train with the work ethic he’s created over the years, he took a huge leap of faith and has come out so much stronger in all respects.
